Angalavaa series : photography
Angalavaa is a series of drawings and photographs created during a research fellowship at the Arktisk Institut's Greenlandic/Danish archive in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Angalavaa is a Greenlandic word meaning wandering through, moving through something. The series contemplates the intricate and complex relationship between the Danes and Greenlanders, and the disconnect of an archive as 'memoryscape' from the landscape/stories it signifies. See Angalavaa writing for further thoughts on this.
This project was made possible by the American Scandinavian Foundation, the Lois Roth Endowment and the American Embassy in Denmark.
